How do I tell if I am designing a Card or Flyer?
Flyers have a different layout from cards — if the invitation is split into two distinct sections with editable text on the left and an animated image on the right, it is a Flyer.
You can check the top left corner of the page to tell if your Card is a Legacy Card- any Legacy cards will show the word LEGACY next to our pigeon logo.
Free and Paid-for Card Designs
Paperless Post offers free and premium card and invitation designs (referred to here as “cards”). A card is premium and paid-for if
- the card itself is designated premium on the site e.g. design partner cards (“Premium Card”); and/or
- you add an optional design element designated as premium to any card, free or premium (“Premium Designs”).
When you send Premium Cards/Designs, you pay for them with Coins which are the virtual credits we use on Paperless Post.
Conversely if neither a Premium Card nor a Premium Design has been added the card is free (“Free Cards”).
Coin pricing
All Premium Cards are 2 Coins per card sent. If you add Premium Designs to any card it will add Coins to the price per card sent.
The Coin prices per recipient are as follows:
- Cards:
- Free, or
- Premium 2 Coins
- An Envelope: 1 Coin
- An Envelope Liner: 1 Coin
- A Backdrop: 1 Coin
- A Premium Stamp: 1 Coin
- Upload-Your-Logo: 3 Coins
- Card Text Color:
- Free, or
- Custom-Color-Picker 2 Coins
- Color Collections:
- Free,
- Premium 1 Coin,
- Custom-Color-Picker 2 Coins
- Page Styles:
- Free, or
- Premium 1 Coin
The total Coins needed to send to your guest list is the total Coin price of your design multiplied by the number of cards sent. Please note you can remove any or all optional Premium Designs from any card to lower the final Coin price to send. As you are designing, you can keep track of the number of Coins necessary to send your card with the Coin Calculator in the upper right hand corner of the page.
Coins are sold in packages, and you can click here to view our Coin package pricing.
At sending, Coins will be deducted from the balance in your account or you may be prompted to purchase a Coin package prior to sending. For example, if your design requires 5 Coins per invitation, and you are inviting 20 recipients, then you will need 100 Coins to send your mailing. Free Card designs can be sent to a maximum of 50 recipients.
To estimate the cost of your card while you are designing, you can access the Coin Calculator. Learn more about this here.
Free and Paid-for Card Sending
If you choose a Free Card design and free design elements when customizing your design, and you send and track 50 invitations or fewer via the Paperless Post Site (by email or text), then your card can be sent for free. If there are more than 50 emails or phone numbers on your event guest list, or you choose a Premium card and/or choose to include Premium Design elements, Coins will be deducted from your account or you will be prompted to purchase a Coin package before sending.
Free Sending for a Free Card:
- Via the Paperless Post Site:
If you are sending a Free Card by email or text through the Paperless Post Site, there is no Coin charge for the first 50 guests. This sending method allows you to track your guests' interaction with the invitations (opens and bounces), and provides access to all event management tools for RSVP reminders and guest follow ups.
- Via posting a sharable link through your personal channels:
If you are distributing a Free Card using a shareable link through your personal SMS, email, ESP, or messaging apps (WhatsApp, Slack, etc.) there is no Coin charge. Please note that because this distribution method is off the Paperless Post platform, we cannot track your guests’ open or bounce statuses. Once your guests RSVP to your invite, Paperless Post will track attending and other event details on your invite Event Page.
Note if you have already sent or shared a Free Card with only free design elements, Premium Design options will no longer be available to add to your card. If you used any Coins for your event, you will retain access to all Premium Design options and can change your card design at any time. If you add any additional Premium Design elements after initially sending your card, on any subsequent sends you will be prompted to pay for them.
Paid Sending for a Free Card:
- Via Paperless Post Site
If you are sending a Free Card, and your event guest list has more than 50 emails or telephone numbers, it will cost 1 Coin for each card sent, beyond the first 50 free cards. Coins can be purchased in increments or packages of 25, 100, 200, 400 and 1,000. Any unused Coins will be saved in your account and can be used for future events.
You will be prompted to make a Coin purchase before sending, if you do not have enough Coins in your account.

If you’re distributing a shareable link to a Premium Card or card with a Premium Design(s), 200 Coins will be deducted from your account or you will be prompted to purchase a 200 Coin package prior to sharing the link wherever you choose.
